He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen - a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls - rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn't have been more wrong. Formidable though they may have been, Rama's opponents in that fateful building were nothing more than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible. And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top of the heap. And so Rama begins a new odyssey of violence, a journey that will force him to set aside his own life and history and take on ...

The world outside is exciting--but risky--as the cubs' playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches. As the season changes from spring to summer, the brown bears must work hard to find food--ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run--while staying safe from rival male bears and predators, including an ever-present wolf pack. "Bears" captures the fast-moving action and suspense of life in one of the planet's last great wildernesses--Alaska!

Who is Vivian Maier? Now considered one of the 20th century's greatest street photographers, Vivian Maier was a loner who worked as a nanny most of her life, and shot photos constantly everywhere she went, taking over 100,000 photographs that went unseen during her lifetime. Amateur historian John Maloof bought the contents of her storage locker by chance at an auction, and soon became obsessed with trying to learn more about the mysterious recluse. The first trace he was able to find of her was her recent obituary. Since then Maloof has organized many acclaimed exhibits of her work, and is crusading to put this prolific photographer into the history books. In Finding Vivian Maier, Maloof and co-director Charlie Siskel's captivating documentary, Maier's strange and riveting life and art are revealed through never-before-seen photographs, films, and interviews with dozens who thought they knew her.

On January 18, 2003, police, alerted by a frantic 911 call from a distraught pair of teenage girls, arrived at the girls Toronto area townhouse to find their mother dead. It appeared the 44-year-old alcoholic, having slipped into a booze-and-pill stupor, drowned in her own bathwater. The death was ruled accidental by the authorities. In the months that followed, however, police were alerted to rumours and reports that the teenagers had been gossiping to friends about the accident. Police began piecing together rumours that suggested the teens might have had a hand in their mother's death. In fact, rather than an accident, the story that emerged portrayed the two teens as cold-blooded, premeditated killers.

  • Joe

    May 2nd

A gripping mix of friendship, violence and redemption erupts in the contemporary South in this adaptation of Larry Brown's novel, celebrated at once for its grit and its deeply moving core. Directed by David Gordon Green (PRINCE AVALANCHE, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, UNDERTOW, ALL THE REAL GIRLS), the film brings Academy AwardA winner Nicolas Cage back to his indie roots in the title role as the hard- living, hot-tempered, ex-con Joe Ransom, who is just trying to dodge his instincts for trouble -- until he meets a hard-luck kid, (Tye Sheridan) (MUD, TREE OF LIFE) who awakens in him a fierce and tender-hearted protector. The story begins as Joe hires teenaged Gary Jones and his destitute father onto his 'tree- poisoning' crew for a lumber company. Joe might be notoriously reckless with his pick-up, his dog and especially with women, but he sees something in Gary that gets to him: a determination, a raw decency and a sense of resilience he can barely believe in anymore. Gary has truly had nothing in life -- he's never spent a day at school -- yet something drives him to take care of his family, to keep his sister safe when his father turns monstrous, to hang onto hope of a better future. Joe and Gary forge an unlikely bond. When Gary finds himself facing a threat greater than he knows how to handle, he turns to Joe -- and sets off a chain of events that play out with the brutal inevitability of tragedy and the beauty of a last stab at salvation.
